Bridges Gallery
Portland Avenue, Beloit, WI
This bridge serves as the gateway to the riverfront area of Beloit. Our
design included many aesthetic features: antique lighting, ornamental
railings, integration with its environment and concrete form liners that
simulate a stone veneer. The structure is made of poured concrete,
making it economical and extremely easy to maintain.
Our design for this bridge won three awards: the 1998 Engineering
Excellence Award,
presented by WACE (Wisconsin Association of Civil Engineers); the 1998
Excellence in Highway Design Award, presented by FHWA; and the 1997
Annual Award for Excellence in Highway Design for Best Bridge Design by
a Consultant, presented by Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
