Bridges Gallery
Markley Hollow, Grant County, WI
Because this bridge was adjacent to Department of Natural
Resources-owned recreational land, aesthetic value held a high priority.
We designed it to resemble a mid-1800s stone arch bridge that would have
been common to the area at that time. Details such as historical plaques
and ornamental railings enhance the beauty of the structure.
This bridge design won two awards: the 2001 Engineering Excellence
Small Firm Award, presented by WACE (Wisconsin Association of Civil
Engineers); and the 2000 Concrete Design Award, presented by Wisconsin
Ready Mixed Concrete Association.
