Roadway Design Projects
USH 12, Dane County, WI
This 4.63 mile long project consisted
of designing the reconstruction of USH 12. Westbrook’s objective was to
expand the existing two-lane highway to a four-lane divided highway.
The project involved extensive construction
staging and traffic control to maintain traffic through the project
while under construction.
When
designing this project our design team’s ingenuity saved $1
million dollars in construction costs. We realigned the roadway to avoid
relocating an existing 911 tower in the project area.
Westbrook conducted the field survey,
created reports, produced the right of way plat and prepared PS&E
documents. Coordinating extensive public involvement activities and
meetings was also required. Due to citizen opposition, Westbrook
frequently held one-on-one site meetings with adjacent property owners
to address their concerns.
