Colorado State Highway 82 – Snowmass Canyon Project, Snowmass, Colorado

This project to widen the 3.4 miles of State Highway 82 through Snowmass Canyon from two to four lanes began in October 2000. Edward Kraemer & Sons, Inc., Plain, WI retained Westbrook Associated Engineers, Inc. as the falsework engineers for the two 950-foot long, cast-in-place concrete, post-tensioned, box girder bridges on the project. The falsework system addressed the extremely rugged terrain while minimizing the amount of excavation required in the steep and environmentally-sensitive areas. Open communications between the contractor and Westbrook Associated Engineers, Inc., as well as the ability to adapt to field changes, produced a safe, constructible, efficient design.
