Construction Materials Testing
Structural contractors, road-building contractors,
architectural/ engineering firms and municipalities all require
materials testing to ensure their projects will last. Westbrook’s experienced materials testing
staff is certified by the HTCP (Highway Technician Certification
Program) through the University of Wisconsin – Platteville and have
attended courses from the National Highway Institute.
Types of materials testing we offer you include:
Fine and Coarse Aggregates Tests
(base
course, concrete aggregate, select backfills)
- Sieve Analysis (to ensure the aggregate meets the required
gradation, which will give you the optimal quality material for its
intended purpose)
-
Aggregate Moisture Content
Concrete
Tests
(sidewalks, curb & gutter, foundations, structures,
pavements)
-Air Entrainment (the percent of air in concrete is a critical
factor in its durability and strength)
-Temperature (the concrete temperature controls
hydration, which prevents cracking)
-Compressive Strength (test the strength of the concrete
to see if it meets contract specifications)
Asphaltic Concrete Pavement Tests
(binder course & surface course: roads, parking lots, bike trails)
-Nuclear Asphaltic Density (determine if the contractors
compactive
efforts is achieving the desired densities, which
impacts the
longevity of the pavement)
